About Me

This is my first year back in the classroom, although my 12th year teaching. For the last 3 years, I was a literacy consultant for our local area education agency. I provided professional development for teachers and administrators in the area of literacy. I also attended trainings and professional development, as well as participated in the statewide literacy team for the state of Iowa. Although, the learning was powerful, I really missed being in the classroom. I took a leap of faith, turned in my resignation, and began the search for a teaching job. After 39 applications and multiple interviews, I found the job of my dreams! I am teaching 3rd grade at Malcolm Price Laboratory School in Cedar Falls, Iowa and I love it! I have a small class size, wonderful students, wonderful parents as partners, and also get the opportunity to mentor and evaluate pre-service teachers as they begin their journey into becoming a teacher.

I am a lifelong learner; I am always striving to improve my teaching and help best meet the needs of my students. I have gained so much through all of my teaching and educational experiences, that I wanted a place to reflect and grow as well as possibly connect with other educators who want to improve and grow.
